So just before the break I was asked to be in this great book "Cereal Killers". I'm sure many of you are familiar with the great work that's being done for this book, but for those of you who don't here is the scoop. Doktor Viktor Von Kreep is assembling this great book which features a whole assortment of awesome artists illustrating spooky versions of some of their favorite cereal boxes.
For mine I wanted to do a fun sort of homage to the "Frostyo's" cereals from the past. So I came up with "Abominable Frost Bites." I just love the designs of their boxes and thought it would be fun to play with some of the visual ideas and text that they were using. I also tried to play with the balance of flat limited color, with some texture where needed.
The work that people are doing is really fun and inspiring, here is the link to the Blog that Viktor has set up featuring many of these pieces. Cereal Killers

Hey pal! Just wanted to thank you again from the bottom of my black heart for creating such a frightfully bone-chilling work of art!
Excellent composition. I like the treatment you did on those little body parts. The gradient on the text doesn't seem to fit though.
Hmm, do you think it would be possible to somehow make this body part cereal at home?
Very Cool Design Nate! I thought for sure you would have done "yeti-o's" haha. Keep up the cool work!
Doktor- Hey no problem, thanks for including me, it was a lot of fun.
Jefferey- I was on the fence about the gradient stuff, but with it, it feels more like the text has frost bitten parts, with out it, the text seemed like something was missing.
Steve- Thanks man! You know as I was doing this I felt it may be to typical given the fact that I draw this character a lot, but at the end of the day it was a fun idea for me so I went with it.

hey nate, i saw your The Loveable Bobby Peru, and it turned out very cool...i get a south american feel from it.
great stuff browski! lookin good as always, and by that i mean your work not you....sorry:)
What's amazing is that someone still owns all those old cereal boxes, stored up on a shelf somewhere; even more so that they stuffed the damn things into a scanner and ran off copies of them. And the contents of said-boxes (if indeed they're mint condition specimens).... hmm, uneaten cereal that harkens back to the dawn of Dick Van Dyke and shag carpeting....Well, let's not think about that for now.
Sounds like a fun concept; looks like you had a good time with it too. I guess the free cereal bar downstairs does creep into the art influence after awhile, huh.
I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your stuff soon. Peace.
That's gonna be a rockin' book!
