Last fall at work I was asked to illustrate a childrens book for our up coming movie "Ratatouille." It was a pretty tough assignment given the short deadlines and large amount of work, but it's all done and it's out in stores now ( Borders, Barnes & Noble, ect. ), so check it out I think it's a really fun book, but remember that it's designed for little kids, so the drawings are as cute as I could make them. I'll be sure to counter this post with a yeti vs sasquatch piece so that things don't get too cute around here.

Congratulations on the published book Nate! The illustrations look beautiful. I will have to get this one...I just got the Art of Ratatouille book and haven't even made my way through that yet. I'm going to the sneak preview of the film tomorrow night at Bay St. in Emeryville...can't wait!
Nice drawings, and congretz on the book.
wow. your stuff is so great!
Beautiful designs!!! I really love your work!!
I was checking this out in stores the other week. Top notch stuff. Really nice work!
If you get the chance to illustrate a children's book again some day, I think gross designs do work with a little bit of cuteness. I can remember instances as a kid being attracted to that. Characters riding that line like Yeti and Sasquatch - The Oscar the Grouch kind of ugly.
Again, congratulations on the book man! Love the blog.
It's a beautiful book, Nate. Great work, congrats!
Hey nate
I just got this book it's really impressive for a children's book.
I've also just got back from the ratatouille screening, the movie was outstanding, it got everyone laughing...the designs, colour, environments and animation acting were exceptional!! and the ending credits with the 2D animation was a nice touch.
To be honest I haven't seen a film like this since I was a kid...like the food critic ego, this was food I haven't tasted in a while...it makes me wonder why we don't see more dishes like this served in the theatre..worth paying for...
I just saw Ratatouille yesterday, and man, it blew me away! The closing credits were great (along with everything else of course). Congrats!
The book is wonderful and your design of the film's end credits is fantastic. The perfect exclamation point to a charming, extremely-entertaining film. Your work is inspiring.
Any plans for a sketchbook or an "art of Nate Wragg" book? Maybe for Comic-con?
Congrats on the book Nate! I went to Barnes and Noble last night and there your book was. I love the simplicity of it all. Awesome work.

I had a lot of involvement on that, teddy newton and I started developing that about a year and a half a go, he came up thith the gags and I came up with the visual style. We got a lot of help of course, but I painted most of the backgrounds and a lot of the character animation to make it look like the style. All in all it was a ton of work, but I'm so glad that people are digging it.
Goo - cool soinda like your wife has good taste, I hope you enjoy it.

Nate,
Can you contact me by email? I've been trying to reach you and Austin M. in every which way I can think that you would have your email, but everything is bouncing. I have an idea for a "book" (I'll explain the quotes) and I'd love to see if you'd be interested in working with me on it. I'm just getting a feel for interest, but I'd really like to talk to you about it privately.
No it's not an invitation for my son's birthday party or some other personal project to get you to work for free - it's something I actually want published. I'm a graphic designer myself, and I know what a pain that kind of thing can be. Please drop me a line at eighthave [at] gmail dot com and I'll tell you more about it.
Thanks!
Dave

I've been admiring your blog for some time now. The book is great, but I really liked your work on the end credits for Ratatouille.
I want to let you know, I love your artwork in this book and in Ratatouille so much! I will be buying two copies -- one for my bookshelf, and one to trim the pages out and frame for my kitchen. =)
You're in EU territory right now and I'm sure couldn't care less about random compliments from a stranger at the moment, buuuut: saw this book in a friend's office not long ago--and like wow. What a beautiful job you did. You're making me spend yet more money on ol' Amazon and I'm happy to do so. Congratulations!
love it! super-fantastic!! and i really enjoyed what you did on the end credits- my favorite part. i saw the movie on sunday and it was beautiful.
Wow these are amazing and very inspiring! I immediately Ordered a copy at Amazon! Unfortunatly the movie isn't in theatres yet here in the Netherlands. So I patiently have to wait to see the film and the end credits everyone's talking about here. But I assume they must be as great as the rest of your work!
I just bought this book for my kids based purely on the beauty of the art. ...And, recently I bought the Ancient Book of Myth and War for my Husband. I didn't realize what a Nate Wragg fan I was. Great Job!
